On the 27th of  June, Sofar Johannesburg returns with another edition of its monthly music series, this time the experience takes places in a private space around Bryanston “Let’s keep that secret to ourselves”. The format is deliberately designed to create discovery. Guests arrive curious and leave changed, many walk in without knowing the performers but walk out with new names on their daily playlists. That is the Sofar effect, It has shaped careers globally, with artists like Billie Eilish, Hozier, Chappell Roan, and Teddy Swims all performing Sofar shows before mainstream recognition.

The address will not be revealed until 36 hours before the show, the artists on the lineup also remain undisclosed until the same moment. This is not a gimmick, It is a philosophy Sofar Sounds has lived around for over a decade and that has made Sofar Johannesburg one of the most talked-about live experiences in the city built for experiencing and discovering new and upcoming artists.

“You don't get to know the venue and lineup, you only know it will be an unforgettable experience”

Sofar Johannesburg is part of the global Sofar Sounds network, founded in London in 2009 in response to live music becoming impersonal and distracted. The Joburg chapter has spent over a decade applying that vision locally, curating shows that bring together the city's emerging and established artists in front of audiences who are genuinely present and in the moment.

The 27 June show is part of a broader Sofar Johannesburg programme that includes a monthly poetry residency at & Friends in Braamfontein, a dedicated stage for spoken word, storytelling and poetic performance. Together, these events form an ongoing commitment to Johannesburg's creative ecosystem building spaces where artists are seen, heard, and valued.

Tickets are available and limited, the venue will be announced 36 hours before the show.

Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks. The rest will be taken care of. This is not just a night out it is a reminder of why live performance matters.
